Woman, 24, Hit And Killed By Metra Train In Grayslake

GRAYSLAKE, IL β€” A pedestrian was hit and killed by a Metra train in Grayslake Tuesday night.

Officials said a 24-year-old woman died after being hit by the train that was headed for Antioch shortly before 7:30 p.m., according to ABC7 Chicago.

Police in Grayslake urged residents to avoid Center Street between Library Lane and Seymour Avenue due to the increased police presence following the incident, which also caused extensive train delays on the Metra North Central Service line Tuesday night.

The train that hit the pedestrian, train 117, was back up and running just before 10 p.m., according to Metra.

No information was immediately available regarding why the woman was on or near the tracks. Her identity has also not yet been released.
