Woman Attacked While Walking Dog On Trail In Lindenhurst
The woman was walking along a wooded trail early Saturday when she was "physically battered." Police are investigating the incident.

LINDENHURST, IL – A 41-year-old woman was attacked while walking her dog along a wooded trail during the early morning hours Saturday, police said. The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. on July 28 on a trail located between the Lindenhurst Park District and Jefferson Drive, according to a news release from the Lindenhurst Police Department. The woman was "physically battered."
“This is an active investigation and all resources are being used to try to ascertain exactly what occurred," Lindenhurst Police Chief Thomas Jones said.

- Residents are encouraged to be alert and aware of their surroundings
- Have a plan in place to deal with any situation; always carry a cellular phone
- Walk with someone else whenever possible
- Avoid dark, vacant, or deserted areas and use well-lit routes
- If you have to walk alone, consider carrying a noise-making device and use it if you suspect
- you are in danger (air horn, whistle, etc)
