Woman Critically Injured After Being Hit by Car While Crossing Route 120

The crash happened near Round Lake on Thursday evening.

A 30-year-old Round Lake woman was critically injured after being struck by a car while crossing Route 120 near Round Lake Thursday evening.

The woman had been involved in a traffic crash a short time before being struck by the vehicle and was waiting in the car of a family member, who had come to the crash scene before sheriff’s office deputies arrived, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 6:15 p.m., the woman got out of the family member’s car, which was parked on Fairfield Road just north of Route 120, and crossed Route 120 on foot, according to authorities.

While crossing Route 120, she was struck by an eastbound Nissan Versa driven by a 33 year-old McHenry man.

The pedestrian was transported to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. The occupants of the Nissan Versa were uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
