Woman in Middle of Route 12 Struck by Car, Killed Early Thursday: Police
The accident happened on Route 12, just south of Route 120, early Thursday.
VOLO, IL - A woman was killed early Thursday after being struck by a car on Route 12 in Volo.
Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to Route 12, just south of Route 120, at about 2:38 a.m. Thursday where the found the woman deceased in the roadway, Lake County Sheriff's Office Detective Christopher Covelli said in a news release.
A preliminary investigation shows a 2008 Ford Mustang was traveling south on Route 12 when the driver struck a pedestrian who was in the middle of the roadway for an unknown reason, Covelli said.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy on the woman Friday morning. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
