Race to Zero Returns to Libertyville to Rally Community Support for Survivors of Sexual Violence
Runners, walkers and families will gather Sept. 20 at Independence Grove to help build safer communities.

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. — Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center (ZCenter) invites runners, walkers, families and community members to come together for its annual Race to Zero 5K Run and 1-Mile Family Walk on Sunday, September 20, at Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville.
Race to Zero brings the community together in support of survivors of sexual violence while raising critical funds for ZCenter’s free counseling, advocacy, crisis line, prevention education and community outreach. Each year, ZCenter reaches more than 25,000 people through these programs and services. Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by the timed 5K at 9 a.m. and 1-Mile Family Walk at 9:15 a.m.
“One of the things I especially love about Race to Zero is seeing families come together in support of survivors and our mission. I can bring my own children, and we see parents, kids, friends and neighbors gathering for a shared purpose,” said Sandy T. Williams, CEO of ZCenter. “The work we do every day is difficult, and this event brings moments of joy and levity while still honoring why we are here. There is something incredibly meaningful about seeing our community show up together to affirm that survivors are not alone.”
