HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations by the state. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

STOLEN CAR

Someone stole a red Honda Accord that had been left left unlocked with the engine running from a parking lot in the 0-100 block of Skokie Valley Road while its owner went into a business Nov. 23 at 8:30 p.m.

A white Ford Fusion was reported stolen by rental fraud from a business in the 0-100 block of Skokie Valley Road on the morning of Nov. 24. The car was supposed to have been returned three weeks prior, and the business told police attempts to make contact with the renter were unsuccessful.

SHOPLIFTING

Two people went into the CVS in the 1500 block of Clavey Road, filled up shopping carts with baby formula, over the counter medications and other miscellaneous items before leaving without paying on Nov. 24 at 9:48 p.m.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

Someone reportedly keyed the driver's side of a Jeep Cherokee on while it was parked in the 200 block of Pierce Road, police were told on the morning of Nov. 25.

RETAIL THEFT

Four people skipped out on the tab of a $58 meal at an unspecified eatery in the 200 block of Skokie Valley Road, police were told Nov. 25 at 4:47 p.m.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Louis Olswang, 19, of the 1700 block of Lake Cook Road was arrested Nov. 21 at 4:39 a.m. and charged with two counts of domestic battery after police responded to a physical dispute at his home.

A 32-year-old Waukegan man was arrested and charged with speeding and driving while license suspended after being stopped by police in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road on Nov. 23 at 4:14 a.m.

Francisco Rogel, 22, of the 3000 block of Elim Avenue, Zion was arrested Nov. 26 at 2:50 a.m. and charged with driving an uninsured vehicle under the influence after being stopped by police near Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road. He was also ticketed for speeding.

A 20-year-old Waukegan woman was arrested Nov. 26 at 11:24 p.m. and charged with speeding 35 mph over the limit, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to restrain child in a child safety seat after being stopped by police near Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road.
