2 Drivers Face Drunken Driving Charges After Crashes: Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Police were dispatched to an activated burglar alarm at an unspecified business in the 1300 block of Half Day Road during the evening hours of Sept. 16. Officers determined someone had broken in but and left before their arrival. An inventory of missing equipment was being compiled at the time of the report.

THEFTS

  • Someone stole multiple items from an unlocked locker in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road at some point prior to 9 p.m. Sept. 17.
  • Someone stole a wallet in the 600 block of Central Avenue sometime before 5:16 p.m. Sept. 19.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole multiple landscaping tools from trailers in the 1400 block of Old Skokie Road prior to 7:45 a.m. Sept. 20. There were signs burglars had forced their way into the trailers.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 3400 block of University Avenue reported around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 that someone had gotten into their home. Stainless steel oven knobs were reported missing and graffiti was found in the house.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 29-year-old Highwood man was issued a citation for possession of an open container of alcohol in public shortly before 7 p.m. Sept. 15.

Kelly Bedford, 27, of the 2000 block of Glendale Avenue, Northbrook, was arrested shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers opened an investigation into a two-car traffic crash with no injuries in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road.

Kyle Wetterson, 22, of the first block of Longmeadow Drive, Winnetka, was arrested shortly after 9:45 p.m. Sept. 18 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers began an investigation into a two-car traffic crash with no injuries at the intersection of Half Day and Ridge roads. He was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

A 58-year-old Ingleside man was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Sept. 20 and charged with driving with a suspended license and issued a citation for speeding after police pulled him over in the area of Half Day and Bentley roads.
