2 Killed When Car Crashes Into Tree in Highland Park
The speeding car collided with a tree near Oakwood Avenue and Walnut Street early Sunday morning.

Two people are dead following an early Sunday morning crash in Highland Park in which a high-speeding vehicle collided with a tree near Oakwood Avenue and Walnut Street.
According to police, one of the vehicle’s occupants was killed on the scene at 4:30 a.m., and the other was taken to Evanston Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The identity of the deceased individuals has not been determined.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the collision and that the vehicle involved in the accident was reported stolen to the Chicago Police Department on Friday.
This crash is being investigated by the Highland Park Police Accident Investigation Team with the assistance of the Major Crash Assistance Team.
