The two men stole cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets shortly before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Two men robbed a Highland Park gas station at gunpoint early Wednesday before fleeing north on Route 41, police said.
Dispatchers got a call at 2:23 a.m. that the duo had robbed Casey's convenience store and gas station at 1333 Half Day Road a few minutes earlier, according to Highland Park Police Deputy Chief William Bonaguidi.
One of the two suspects brandished a handgun, and they ordered the clerk to the ground, police were told.

The robbers then stole an undisclosed amount cash and cigarettes — as well as lottery tickets — before leaving the store and getting into a car parked in a neighboring lot, according to police.
The two men, who both appeared to be in their mid-20s, fled in a dark-colored getaway car with a broken tail light.
