3 Cars Stolen, 10 Burglarized In Highland Park: Blotter
Highland Park Police Blotter: July 9 - July 16

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
STOLEN CARS

- Someone stole an unlocked car from a garage in the 2400 block of Augusta Way, a resident reported on the morning of July 9.
- Someone stole an unlocked car and ransacked another in the 900 block of Rollingwood Road, a resident reported on the morning of July 12.
- Someone stole an unlocked car from the 1700 block of Orchid Court, a resident reported on the morning of July 14.
STOLEN PLANTS
A resident in the 300 block of Park Avenue reported around noon on July 9 that an someone had stolen unplanted plants from the property of several residences.
THEFT LOST OR MISLAID PROPERTY
Someone stole a purse that had been left on a bench in the 600 block of Central Avenue, police were told on the afternoon of July 12. It contained some credit cards, IDs, sunglasses and a small amount of cash.

CAR BURGLARIES/TRESPASSES
- A resident in the 100 block of Leonard Wood Street reported around 1 p.m. on July 9 that someone had stolen cash, gift cards and eyeglasses from a loaner vehicle.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Crofton Court reported on the morning of July 10 that someone had stolen electronics from two unlocked cars.
- A resident in the 600 block of Detamble Avenue reported on the morning of July 10 that someone had gotten into an unlocked car, but nothing was reported stolen.
- A resident in the 1100 block of Ridgewood Drive reported on the morning of July 11 that someone got into two cars and ransacked them without stealing anything.
- A resident in the 900 block of Rollingwood Road reported on the morning of July 12 that someone got gotten into an unlocked car without stealing anything.
- A resident in the 1400 block of McDaniels Avenue reported on the morning of July 12 that someone rummaged through an unlocked vehicle. Nothing was reported stolen.
- A resident in the 1400 block of McDaniels Avenue reported on the morning of July 12 that someone had ransacked a vehicle, and it was unknown if any items were missing.
- A resident in the 1300 block of Sunset Road reported on the morning of July 12 that someone had rummaged through their unlocked vehicle without stealing anything.
- A resident in the 1100 block of Bob-O-Link Road reported on the morning of July 12 that someone stole change and a sunglasses case from their car.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- Someone did an unspecified amount of damage to several industrial movers in the 900 block of North Avenue, police were told on the afternoon of July 9.
- A resident in the 1800 block of St. John’s Avenue reported at 8:44 p.m. on July 14 that somenoe had scratched both sides of their vehicle with a key.
- A patron of a business in the 600 block of Central Avenue reported on the evening of July 15 that that someone had "expended several fire extinguishers belonging to the facility."
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Kathleen Grossman, 59, of the 100 block of S. Elizabeth Lane in Palatine, was arrested at 1:44 a.m. on July 9 and charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop in the 100 Block of Central Avenue. She was released on a personal recognizance bond ahead of an Aug. 17 court date.
Pedro Pizano-Vazquez, 29, of the 600 block of Genessee Street in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with a violation of the local battery ordinance after police were called to a report of a dispute in the 3200 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was released on a personal recognizance bond ahead of an Aug. 22 court date.
Paul Gibson, Jr., 60, of the 3300 block of Seeley Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1:55 a.m. on July 14 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and no valid driver’s license or license plates following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was released on bond ahead of an Aug. 31 court date.
Ari Kaplan, 23, of the 1200 block of Cambridge Court in Highland Park, was arrested at 10:49 p.m. on July 15 and charged with contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia following an investigation into a car at the intersection of Oak Street and Walker Avenue. He was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date pending for August 17, 2018, in Waukegan.
