Highland Park Police Blotter: July 2 - July 8

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARIES
A resident in the 300 block of Dell Lane reported on the morning of July 3 that someone had gotten into their car and stole a debit card and about $80 in cash. That afternoon, a resident in the 400 block of Dell Lane reported that someone had gotten into their car but nothing was removed. It was not specified whether either of the cars were locked.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 900 block of Deerfield Road reported at 2:09 p.m. on July 6 that someone slashed two tires on her vehicle.

THEFT
A patron of a business in the 1200 block of Park Avenue reported on July 7 that someone had stolen their mountain bike from a bike rack at the main entrance of the facility. It was not specified whether the bike was locked.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Ashton X. Stewart, 27, of the 2800 block of Sunset Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested around 3 a.m. on July 2 and charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more and excessive speeding – 26 to 34 mph over the limit – after he was pulled over for speeding in the 2900 block of Skokie Valley Road.
