5 Jackets Stolen By 6 Shoplifters: Highland Park Crime Reports

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations by the state. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

A resident in the 700 block of Old Trail Road reported someone broke into a home and stole cash on Dec. 7.
SHOPLIFTING

An employee of a retail business in Port Clinton Square in the 600 block of Central Avenue reported at 1:22 p.m. on Dec. 14 that six unidentified people cut security cables on five women's Canada Goose winter coats and ran out of the business. Police did not provide a description of the suspects.
ARRESTS
Francisco Dejesus-Rivera, 28, of the 3700 block of South 61st Street, Milwaukee, was arrested at 2:19 a.m. on Dec. 14 and charged with driving under the influence, hit-and-run and driving in the wrong lane after police responded to a car that had struck a semi-truck accident in the 2700 block of Skokie Valley Road.

Achour Zaya, 28, of the 8300 block of Keating Avenue, Skokie, was arrested at 3:41 a.m. on Dec. 16 and charged with driving under the influence and possession of cannabis after being stopped by police in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road.
Anthony Thomas, 43, of the 2100 block of North Richmond Street, Chicago was arrested shortly after 9 a.m. on Dec. 16 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, aggravated driving while license revoked, driving while license revoked, open transportation of alcohol, disobeying a traffic control device and improper lane usage after being stopped by police in the 1600 block of Skokie Valley Road.
A 31-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 12:22 a.m. on Dec. 17 and charged with driving while license suspended, uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage after being stopped by police in the 1500 block of Old Skokie Road.
Siyabonga Mafa, 29, of the 900 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 4:52 a.m. on Dec. 17 and charged with driving under the influence, squealing of tires, disobeying a traffic control device and improper lane usage after being stopped by police near Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road.
Marcial Recinos-Vasquez, 27, of the 500 block of Onwentsia Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 2:47 a.m. on Dec. 18 and charged with domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic battery after police responded to a physical dispute at a residence in the 300 block of Temple Avenue.
