5 Possible Uses for Highland Park Theater Space

Developers present five unique proposals for redevelopment of the Central Avenue space.

An eight-story hotel, six-story condominium building, condo-townhome project, indoor market and five-story office building have all been proposed as possible uses for the site of the Highland Park Theater on Central Avenue in downtown Highland Park.

All five developers presented their plans to city officials at a recent public meeting, according to the Highland Park News.

“It just got to the point where we need to be done with this conversation,” said Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering. “Many people have had a wish about a specific project but at the end of the day this is something that has to be fiscally reasonable as far as the city is concerned. It should contribute to the vibrancy of the downtown, but it also needs to work within that neighborhood.”
