Highland Park To Host 43rd Port Clinton Art Festival Over Labor Day Weekend (patch.com) — Highland Park residents can look forward to the 43rd Port Clinton Art Festival returning downtown over Labor Day weekend, bringing 255 juried artists, live music, and family activities. The free, accessible event will close several central streets, highlight local restaurants, and support charities through art donations and special sales benefiting regional nonprofits.

Alleged drunk driver crashes SUV completely through commercial building in Highland Park (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Emergency crews responded after an SUV crashed completely through a commercial building on Old Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park, causing significant structural damage but no reported injuries. A Lake Forest woman was arrested on DUI and alcohol-transport charges, and the city restricted access to the damaged area pending structural engineering review. Community Development staff have begun assessing the building's safety.
   

3. Louie Shaffer isn't the only Deerfield player 'focused on changing things around.' But it starts with him. (chicagotribune.com) — Deerfield football senior Louie Shaffer is leading a culture reset after last season's struggles, drawing on experience gained while sidelined by injury. As a new team captain in the CSL Central, he'll face familiar rivals including Highland Park, Glenbrook North and Niles West, aiming to turn Deerfield into a tougher matchup this fall.

Thieves Relocate Bike: Winnetka, Glencoe Crime Blotters (patch.com) — Police in nearby Winnetka and Glencoe reported several recent identity thefts, a relocated bicycle, and minor vandalism, along with multiple traffic-related arrests. One case involved a 21-year-old Highland Park man arrested on DUI and other traffic citations in Winnetka. Residents may want to double-check financial accounts and keep vehicles and bikes secured.
