The Lake County Division of Transportation developed a new website that includes all the available transit/paratransit resources in Lake County. This website was designed to serve as a "one stop location" for Lake County residents to find out what transportation options are available within their area. There are many transportation options within the County and this website will offer a comprehensive understanding of where these transit services are located, which communities they serve and how these modes of transportation connect with one another.
The Round Lake area is now being served by one of the two existing Pace Call-n-Ride transportation services in the Chicagoland area. The Call-n-Ride transportation services are used where the population density is too low to support a traditional fixed route, but where there is demand for public transit to several destinations in a relatively small area. This innovative new approach to local public transit service is a reservation-based, curb-to-curb service that picks up riders and takes them anywhere within a designated geographic service area. It differs from other curb-to-curb service, like Dial-a-Ride and ADA Paratransit service, because it is always open to the general public, consumers can reserve same day service if space is available and the fare is set by Pace. Additionally, the Round Lake Call-n-Ride stops at the College of Lake County several times a day and offers connections to Grayslake, Round Lake and Round Lake Beach Metra stations, as well as to Pace Bus Routes 572 and 570.
