Apartment Building Planned in Downtown Highwood
Five-story building seeking tax incentives to open at site of former Greek restaurant.

A Highland Park developer is seeking nearly $1 million in tax incentives to open a 52-unit apartment building in downtown Highwood.
The planned five-story rental building would take shape at 440 Green Bay Road - the former site of the Yiannis Opa greek restaurant, according to the Highland Park News.
Pickus Associates’ plans include using the ground floor of the building for retail and office purposes.

The city has hired consultant Kane McKenna Associates to “assess whether the incremental property taxes generated by the new development would cover the costs of the $985,000 in incentives the developer is seeking,” the News reports.
The planned building fits into Highwood’s downtown TIF district, which will expire in 10 years.
