Appraisal Reports for Ravinia, Braeside Schools Coming Soon

District 112 CFO says call for appraisals does not mean intent to sell.

Appraisals for Highland Park elementary schools Ravinia and Braeside should be available at the next meeting of the North Shore District 112 board of education.

Mohsin Dada, chief financial officer for the district, informed the board on Tuesday that just because appraisals are being sought for the two properties - that does not necessarily mean the district intends to put them on the market.

“The does not mean we have the intent to sell,” Dada said. “The report will give us the best and highest use for them - it is for the short term.”

“Our commitment to the project does not have anything to do with selling,” he continued.

Under the District 112 referendum that could be on the ballot for voters in April is the board elects to put it there during the next meeting, both schools could potentially see changes in use and structure as the plan calls for condensing the district’s 12 schools into a 7-school model.

A recommendation recently presented from Nagle Hartray Architecture includes keeping Braeside in the new model “because it will function better, will be less costly, and its renovations and new construction will be less disruptive compared to Ravinia School.”
