Announcing 2018 Spring Benefit Honoree – Amy Amdur

HIGHLAND PARK, IL (APRIL 2018) –The Art Center Highland Park(TAC) is reminding the public to save the date for its upcoming 58thAnnual Spring Benefit: Art Awakening: Making Art Available to All,on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 7 p.m. This is TAC’s largest fundraising event of the fiscal year and money raised will help fund art scholarships, classes, workshops, exhibitions, events and programs to make art accessible to everyone throughout the year.

TAC, a nonprofit community art center serving the North Shore and Chicagoland area since 1960, announces Amy Amdur as the 2018 TAC Spring Benefit Honoree.A native of Highland Park, Amy began painting at TAC (then called the Suburban Fine Arts Center) when she was just 5 years old. A past TAC Board Member, Amdur has worked passionately to give artists a variety of opportunities to show and sell their work, including the annual Festival of Fine Arts in partnership with TAC.

“Amy has been so active in the arts community, such a great friend of TAC for so many years, that to honor her is the most natural decision we could make.” said Gwen Heyman, President of the TAC Board of Directors, “We’re also honoring two of our exceptional faculty, as we do each year: Amy Butts and Ana Spencer Reed.”

The TAC Spring Benefit Co-Chairs, Jacqueline Lotzof and Wren Williams, are also looking forward to welcoming this year’s Mistress of Ceremonies Janet Davies.

Entertainment will be provided by the CoverGirls, a colorful, high-energy musical revue of the greatest pop and rock hits performed on their signature purple electric violins. Other performances include Midwest Young Artists, Actor’s Gymnasium and the DJ, Stand up And Clap. Food and drink will be supplied by:Beelow’s, Belaire,Bent Fork, Bluegrass, Carol’s Cookies, Highland Pop, New York Slices, Sunset Foods, Sushi Kushi Too, Stolen Spirits, Sweetshot Cookies, Tamales, Vin Chicago, Wildfire and Yummy Bowl. The gallery exhibits during the Benefit include Impermanent Lands and eco-Art.

The TAC Spring Benefit,held at TAC’s own space at 1957 Sheridan Road in Highland Park, is the hottest ticket of the season, attracting over 250 people from all over the North Shore, surrounding suburbs and the greater Chicagoland art community, and is expected to raise more than $100,000.
