The 79th Annual 57th Street Art Fair returns June 6, 11 AM–6 PM, and Sunday, June 7, 10 AM–5 PM, featuring nearly 200 artists and thousands of original works! As the Midwest’s oldest juried art fair, this dedicated volunteer-run event is a must-visit for art lovers looking to shop, discover, and connect with artists from across the country.

Guests can browse a wide range of handmade items, including jewelry, glass, ceramics, paintings, sculptures, fiber art, leather goods, photography, and more. Enjoy live music from Buddy Guy’s Legends, family-friendly activities, and food trucks serving up delicious bites—all while chatting with artists about their creative process!

All works are juried and original, continuing the vision of founder Mary Louise Womer from 1948, with artists receiving full monetary benefit from their sales.

The 79th Annual 57th Street Art Fair: June 6–7, 2026

Celebrate Highwood invites the public “show their pride on the North Side” as they host Pride in the Park, a celebration of love and community, on Wednesday, June 17 from 4:30 - 9 PM. This new theme night during the beloved weekly Evening Gourmet Market will focus on family-friendly inclusivity, loaded with interactive art, games, and live entertainment by Highwood’s own DJ Versage, who’s high energy is as fun to watch as they are to listen to, playing hits for the whole family. For those looking to leave a lasting mark, Pride in the Park will feature an interactive mural installation, courtesy of The Art Center Highland Park. The ‘Find your Piece of the Puzzle’ community mural invites attendees to paint and collaborate on a puzzle piece that will be transformed into next year’s annual Pride in the Park poster. A Celebrate Highwood ‘Pride Rocks Garden’ painting station hosted by the North Shore Civic Club will offer guests the opportunity to paint custom rocks to be displayed in the community. Free activity tables will be onsite, as well as giant yard games to play, including Connect 4, Jenga, and Twister.

2026 highlights include:

The City of Highwood is heating up as Celebrate Highwood gets fired up for Inferno Fest on Wednesday, June 24, from 4:30-9 PM in Everts Park (111 North Ave.). Showcasing a plethora of the hottest and spiciest foods and beverages, Inferno Fest will test the taste buds of the most fearless food enthusiasts.
The fun, fiery Inferno Fest will feature a variety of hot twists on traditional America, Italian and Mexican dishes, spicy sweets and creative cocktails. Fabulous live music by <a href="https://www.losperroscubanos.net/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Los Perros Cubanos</a> and an assortment of unique spicy foods will create an entertaining atmosphere while visitors sample the hottest foods on the North Shore.
For adults 18 years an older in for a challenge, the popular Inferno Fest Eating Contest will be back at the stage at 7:30 PM. The rules are simple…whoever can eat the most Pixca “hot taquitos” without calling for a ‘cool down drink”, wins a $200 gift card! Not all who dared enter this competition in the past walked away the same ever again. This is truly a challenge for those with iron stomachs.

Sheridan Road & Clay Avenue

The public is invited to put on their sneakers, grab their family, friends, strollers, and pets and join the fun on Saturday, July 18 at 9 AM in Downtown Highwood. The course starts and finishes at the corner of Sheridan Rd &amp; Clay Ave. and will guide participants along the beautiful lake front trail and through historic Fort Sheridan and then back again. This year’s run embraces a special "Superhero" theme, encouraging participants to come dressed as their favorite superhero. “Celebrate Highwood is thrilled to partner with Oak Terrace and align with their ‘Be a Superhero in Your Community’ theme,” says Celebrate Highwood president, Jess Ortega. “Oak Terrace’s platform on community mindedness goes hand in hand with our mission with Celebrate Highwood!”
Proceeds from the 2026 Celebrate Highwood 5K will directly benefit the Oak Terrace PTO, a non-profit organization committed to developing closer connections between home and school.
Runners and walkers can sign up <a href="https://www.CelebrateHighwood.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">HERE</a>&nbsp;or at www.CelebrateHighwood.org now through midnight on Saturday, July 18. The 5K Run, Walk &amp; Stroll registration fee is $45 per participant, and includes a run t-shirt (must be registered by Monday, July 6 to guarantee a shirt and size). The one-mile walk fee is $25 and does not include a t-shirt. Participants aged 21 and older, will receive a coupon for an alcoholic beverage to enjoy at the Celebrate Highwood bar located at the Taste of Highwood in Everts Park, or the Celebrate Highwood bar at Highwood Days, held at the Highwood Metra Station parking lot, through Sunday, July 19.

Public art continues to shape the cultural landscape of Highwood with the unveiling of “For giving”, a new sculpture by internationally recognized artist Chris RWK. The sculpture will be unveiled on June 10, 2026 at 5:30pm at the mural park at 341 Waukegan Avenue, Highwood, followed by a solo exhibition “I Left My Heart in Illinois” by NY&nbsp;artist Chris RWK opening on June 11, 2026 from 6-9pm at 524 Sheridan Road, Highwood. 
 Created in 2025, “For giving” is a mixed media sculpture that embodies the transformative power of human connection. Featuring RWK’s iconic robot figure holding a heart, the work reflects both the act of offering love and the openness required to receive it. The sculpture invites viewers into an ongoing emotional exchange—each passerby becomes part of the narrative, taking with them a piece of the message while leaving behind their own imprint for others.
 Rooted in accessibility and emotional resonance, RWK’s work bridges street art and contemporary sculpture, bringing deeply relatable themes into public space. “For giving” continues this legacy, transforming everyday environments into sites of reflection, empathy, and shared experience.&nbsp; 
 The project is curated by <a href="https://silvertunastudios.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Silvertuna Studios</a> and <a href="https://collectwithlulu.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Collect With Lulu</a>, continuing their shared mission of connecting artists, communities, and meaningful storytelling through public art and exhibition. This event marks the two year anniversary since they partnered with the City of Highwood on the beautification project creating 15 murals, and now one special public sculpture.&nbsp; Join us to welcome our talented artist, view a meaningful collection of of works, and enjoy local wine from our friends at <a href="https://www.lynfredwinery.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Lynfred Winery</a>.
 ABOUT CHRIS RWK: Chris RWK is a New York City–based visual artist whose work bridges street art, pop culture, and introspective storytelling. From an early age, he absorbed the imagery of comic books, sci-fi, film, television, and music, storing those visual impulses in what he describes as his “mental journal.” Those collected images now act as fuel for a visual lexicon built around his signature robot icon.
 As a child of the late ’70s and ’80s, Chris’s earliest sketches emulated cartoons and comic strips; by his early teens, he was tagging walls around Staten Island and photographing graffiti outside his door. Over time, letters gave way to characters — the robot figure came to symbolize emotional states, resilience, vulnerability, and the tension between machine and humanity.
 The name Robots Will Kill was coined during a residency in Vermont in 1999. The phrase crystallized an idea: repetition can numb you, turning once-vibrant acts into mechanical ritual. Chris adopted the name publicly in 2001, launching RobotsWillKill.com as an open platform for creators overlooked by traditional galleries and institutions. “You wouldn’t give us space, so we built one,” he later reflected. Over time the site evolved into a collective, uniting artists across the globe who shared a DIY, emotionally resonant approach.
 Above all, Chris remains committed to the idea that art is for everybody. Through RWK he advocates for recognition of underrepresented artists, pushes back on exploitative “exposure” deals, and insists that artists know their value.
 He is active in exhibition circuits — both solo and group — with galleries like Harman Projects, SUYE, and Silvertuna Studios. He is also one of the primary artists at the Freedom Tower in New York.&nbsp; Chris is proud to be part of the Highwood city beautification project with a mural and now a sculpture in the heart of the city.

Ragdale, the nationally acclaimed artists’ residency program, located on the former Arts and Crafts country estate of architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, offers tours of the historic Ragdale House. Participants will learn about the Shaw family history and the celebrated artist in residence program. Visitors can experience the seven-acre site which includes three historic homes, several artist studios, gardens and vistas of the 50-acres Shaw Prairie. The Ragdale House and the Barn House, originally built in 1897, are both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tour donations help to support the mission of Ragdale.
