HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

TIRE THEFT
Someone stole approximately $2,000 worth of used tires from Car Candy Customs, 2750 Skokie Valley Road, at some point prior to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 21.

BATHROOM DAMAGE
Someone damaged soap and toilet paper dispensers in a public bathroom in the Metra building at 1700 St. John's Avenue prior to 8:45 a.m. Oct. 22.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • A resident in the 3000 block of Priscilla Avenue reported around 9 a.m. Oct. 23 that someone had stolen several items worth more than $1,500 from an unlocked car during the previous night.
  • Another resident in the 3000 block of Priscilla Avenue reported around 5 p.m. Oct. 23 that someone had stolen cufflinks and about $30 from a car during the previous night. It was not specified whether the car was unlocked and police had not identified any suspects in either incident at the time of the reports.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Bogdan Ciesla, 45, of the 300 block of Greenleaf Avenue, Wilmette, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. Oct. 25 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at the Edens Expressway and Lake Cook Road. He was also issued citations for improper lane usage and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.

Scott Finkel, 53, of the 1000 block of Cedar Lane, Northbrook, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. Oct. 26 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop at Lake Cook and Ellendale roads. He was also ticketed for speeding between 11 and 14 mph over the limit.

A 30-year-old Zion man was arrested around 4:30 a.m. Oct. 26 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license. He was also issued citations for speeding in a construction zone without workers present and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
