Beanstalk Toyland & Bookstore Addresses Toys R Us Closings

Boutique mom & daughter business thrives and stocks up as big box retailer announces closures

HIGHLAND PARK, IL (January 24, 2018) – Beanstalk Toyland & Bookstore, the North Shore’s premier toy and book destination, wants to address the local community as Toys R Us announces store closures, and let them know that they are stocking up on inventory and will continue to offer the most comprehensive toy and book selection. The boutique mom and daughter owned business for the past 8-years has watched as big box retailers such as Toys R Us and Borders Bookstore have opened and now shut down stores in Highland Park.

“We are the quintessential small shop success story,” states Pamela Hilman, co-owner of Beanstalk Toyland & Bookstore along with her daughter Alyson Hillman Pedowitz. “We have always stood by our brand and personal approach to customer service. We believe that the experience of shopping is the best experience and keeps customers happy and coming back.”

At a time when internet shopping and big box retailers are reinventing themselves, Beanstalk Toyland & Bookstore has focused on their customers’ needs. “We have always gotten to know each and every person that walks in our door. Whether they are buying a toy or book for their child or a gift, our mom-owned and teacher-run store goes above and beyond what any impersonal big box or online retailer can offer,” states Peidowitz.

“We are in the process of expanding our interactive play are for kids to come demo our new toys and work off steam,” explains Hillman, which seems to be just in time for a hopeful influx of customers looking to shop in store for toys and books on the North Shore as Toys R Us outlets close down.
