Bregy to Lead School District With Star Studded Alumni List
Beverly Hills School District adds current NSSD 112 chief to list of greats that include Kravitz, Cage, Dreyfuss and Betty White.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - Outgoing North Shore School District 112 Superintendent Dr. Michael Bregy won’t be far from Highland Park in his new position come February.
But it will be Highland Park, the neighborhood in Los Angeles and not the magnificent North Shore suburb that will be a short drive from Bregy’s next job location as superintendent of the Beverly Hills Unified School District.
The Beverly Hills school board is all set to approve a three-year contract for Bregy with a starting salary of $265,000, according to the Highland Park News.

The experienced school leader who came to NSSD 112 three years ago after a long run as superintendent of the Community Unit District 300 in Carpentersville will essentially be trading the Hollywood of the Midwest (the North Shore, where several hit movies have been filmed) for the Hollywood of, well, Hollywood.
The Beverly Hills district serves about 4,200 students in five schools, according to the News. The district schools include four K-8 institutions and Beverly Hills High School.
Notable alumni of Beverly Hills High School include singer/songwriter Lenny Kravitz, actors Nicholas Cage, Rob Reiner and Richard Dreyfuss, actresses Betty White, Jamie Lee Curtis and Carrie Fisher and Saturday Night Live pioneer Laraine Newman.
But even as the leader of the place where the stars learned, highway signs for “Highland Park” are sure to come up.
Beverly Hills is about 18 miles west of the Highland Park neighborhood in Los Angeles if you take the Ventura Freeway.
"I have a unique opportunity to be closer to family in southern California and begin a new chapter in my life,” Bregy wrote in his resignation letter to parents, letting them know of the difficult decision to part from 112.
Bregy said he will assist the District 112 in finding his replacement until Feb. 1, when his new role in Beverly Hills will begin.
Members of the community praised Bregy during Tuesday night's North Shore School District 112 school board meeting, complimenting him on his professionalism and expressing their appreciation for his hard work in the district.
Resident Josh Weisbart - who referred to Bregy's move to California as "Bregsit" - wished him well at "90210." With one parting request, of course.
"Let Donna Martin graduate," he said.
