Dear Parents,
I write this message to you with a heavy heart and sincere appreciation for having the privilege and good fortune to have served as your superintendent during the last 3 years. Despite having 2 additional years in my contract, I have a unique opportunity to be closer to family in southern California and begin a new chapter in my life. It was a difficult decision to make.
In my entire career, I have never met as many engaged and involved parents as I have in our school district. I want to take a moment to share my thoughts with you.
I have enjoyed getting to know as many students as possible and I enjoyed seeing them shine in classrooms, events, and activities. Not for one moment did I ever take for granted this incredible opportunity and responsibility to lead our school district for your children and our community.
A very special thank you to parents who attended our community conversations and informational meetings. Although I sensed "information fatigue" on so many of you, it was incredibly rewarding when you continued to show up because you wanted to know more.
I firmly believe our reconfiguration challenges are solvable despite the level of complexity and intricacies involved in this work. Your children deserve to have the very best educational facilities and learning environment and we have more informed parents now than ever before who are involved in finding a long-term solution.
Our work was knocked down several times over the last few years but I have great hope that our work of creating and recreating will ultimately be most beneficial for your children and our staff. I will cherish the many positive relationships I have made with you and your children and look forward to keeping in touch with so many of you.
I am working with our Board of Education to find my replacement in February and we will provide you with additional information soon.
Please stay safe during our first winter storm of the season and I hope to say farewell and thank you to as many parents as possible during the beginning of our new year, 2017.
