Brown Wins Figure Skating Title
Highland Park High School alum Jason Brown won his first U.S. figure skating championship.

Jason Brown, a graduate of Highland Park High School, won his first U.S. figure skating championship over the weekend, holding off runner-up Adam Rippon on Sunday by 2.5 points to claim the title.
The Associated Press reports Brown finished with 274.98 points despite Rippon’s victory in the free skate event on the last day of the competition.
“Brown, the runner-up last year to earn an Olympic berth, skated well enough Sunday to clinch victory,” the AP article stated. “He landed with two feet on his second triple axel but had eight triples overall, proving he could win a national title without a squad.”
