Bullets Found After Traffic Stop; DUI Driver Crashes: HP Blotter
Incidents and arrests from the Highland Park police blotter for Dec. 18 to Dec. 23.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park police department and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident reported around 3:20 p.m. on Dec. 19 that someone did an unspecified amount of damage to a mailbox in an unlocked shared lobby space in a building in the 700 block of Central Avenue. Nothing was reported stolen.
PACKAGE THEFT
A resident in the 2500 block of Hybernia Drive reported around 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 20 that someone had stolen a package valued at $100 that had been delivered to the front of the home.

ARRESTS
Nathaniel J. Pomrenze, 64, of the 2900 block of Idlewood Lane, Highland Park, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Dec. 17 after officers responded to an accident in the 900 block of Auburn Avenue. Pomrenze was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and – according to court records but not the Highland Park Police Department – driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above. Pomrenze reportedly struck two parked cars. No injuries or significant damage was reported. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Trevaughn Cooney, 21, of the 2000 block of Ash Street, Waukegan, was arrested around 1:18 a.m. on Dec. 20 and charged with unlawful possession of firearm ammunition following a traffic stop at the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West. Officers reportedly found five unused bullets and no weapons. Police did not provide a reason for the traffic stop or search, but Cooney was also issued a citation for possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis and speeding between 26 and 34 mph above the limit.
