Over A Dozen Cars Burglarized; DUIs Over Drinking, Drugs: Blotter
Incidents and arrests from the Highland Park police blotter from Dec. 11 to Dec. 17.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
STOLEN CAR
A resident in the 600 block of Hillside Drive reported around 11:10 p.m. on Dec. 10 that unidentified thieves had stolen an unlocked vehicle that evening.
CAR BURGLARIES

- The same three unidentified burglars are believed to have gotten into three vehicles in the 2800 and 2900 blocks of Parkside Drive and the 2800 block of Lexington Lane between about 9:45 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on Dec. 10.
- A resident in the 3000 block of Lexington Lane reported around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 that someone had gotten into a vehicle. Nothing was listed as stolen at the time of the report.
- A resident in the 2800 block of Parkside Drive reported around 11:27 a.m. on Dec. 11 that someone had gotten into multiple vehicles during the previous night. Nothing was listed as stolen at the time of the report.
- A resident in the 800 block of Yale Lane reported around 2:38 p.m. on Dec. 11 that someone had gotten into an unlocked vehicle. Nothing was listed as stolen at the time of the report.
- A resident in the 2900 block of Lexington Lane reported around 4:39 p.m. on Dec. 11 that someone had gotten into two vehicles, stealing a set of keys from one of them.
- A resident in the 200 block of Elder Lane reported around 6:33 p.m. on Dec. 11 that someone had gotten into a vehicle, with no items reported stolen.
- Residents in the first block of Lakeside Place reported on the evening of Dec. 11 that someone had gotten into two vehicle and stole items worth $100 from one and $20 in cash from the other.
(Police said there were no signs of forced entry in any of the incidents.)

ARRESTS
Julia Silverio-Martinez, 48, of the first block of Clay Avenue, Highwood, was arrested on the afternoon of Nov. 26 and charged with battery after reportedly slapping a woman twice in the face and causing bleeding in her mouth.
Fernando Garcia, 26, of the 2600 block of Florida Street, Waukegan, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 15 and charged with DUI – drugs following a traffic stop in the area of Route 41 and Old Elm Road. He was also issued citations for improper lane usage and possession of under 2.5 grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.
Ryan M. Saint, 27, of the 2000 block of Kentucky Avenue, North Chicago, was arrested around 5 a.m. on Dec. 15 and charged with criminal trespassing to a home in the 300 block of Green Bay Road.
Matthew McCaffer, 26, of the 1600 block of Central Street, Evanston, was arrested around 1:20 a.m. on Dec. 16 following a traffic stop in the area of Lake Cook Road and the Edens Expressway and charged with DUI – alcohol. He was also issued a citation for speeding.
