Highland Park just announced its biggest EnjoyHP season yet, running June–October 2026. The expanded lineup features free, family‑friendly festivals, concerts, and community events that have already drawn more than 80,000 visitors since 2022.
2026 highlights include: 
• Taste of Highland Park (June 19–20): More restaurants, more music, air‑conditioned lounges, a photo exhibit, and expanded kids’ programming.
• Downtown Concert Series (Fridays, July 10–Sept. 25): Free concerts with global cuisine, world music themes, and the return of the Scarecrow Trail.
• Vintage Car Show (Aug. 22): A larger footprint plus an all‑new electric vehicle showcase.
• Oktoberfest (Sept. 26): Bavarian music, beer &amp; bites, stein‑holding, axe throwing, and family fun.

The City of Highwood is heating up as Celebrate Highwood gets fired up for Inferno Fest on Wednesday, June 24, from 4:30-9 PM in Everts Park (111 North Ave.). Showcasing a plethora of the hottest and spiciest foods and beverages, Inferno Fest will test the taste buds of the most fearless food enthusiasts.
The fun, fiery Inferno Fest will feature a variety of hot twists on traditional America, Italian and Mexican dishes, spicy sweets and creative cocktails. Fabulous live music by <a href="https://www.losperroscubanos.net/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Los Perros Cubanos</a> and an assortment of unique spicy foods will create an entertaining atmosphere while visitors sample the hottest foods on the North Shore.
For adults 18 years an older in for a challenge, the popular Inferno Fest Eating Contest will be back at the stage at 7:30 PM. The rules are simple…whoever can eat the most Pixca “hot taquitos” without calling for a ‘cool down drink”, wins a $200 gift card! Not all who dared enter this competition in the past walked away the same ever again. This is truly a challenge for those with iron stomachs.

Select Fridays, July 10 through September 25 at Port Clinton Square in<a href="https://www.enjoyhighlandpark.com/downtownhp" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Downtown Highland Park</a>, the public is invited to take a trip around the world - without ever leaving Highland Park. Attendees will partake in global cuisine from a different onsite local Highland Park restaurant each week while enjoying accompanying world music and entertainment. No passport necessary.
Over the course of ten Friday evenings, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to Port Clinton Square and start their summer weekends with free live music for the entire family. Concerts will generally run from 6 PM - 8 PM. Please note there will be no concerts July 24 or August 28, and the July 10 concert will take place from 5 PM - 7 PM. The season finale on September 25 will be held from 4 PM – 8 PM and feature the return of the ever-popular Scarecrow Trail through Downtown Highland Park. Over one dozen Downtown businesses will decorate seasonal scarecrows in front of their shops, creating a fun and festive Scarecrow Trail. Attendees will be able to vote “best in show, with the winner being announced during Stews &amp; Brews on October 10.As plans continue to evolve, the eclectic line-up of Downtown Concerts at Port Clinton will allow attendees to take a trip around the world include:

The public is invited to put on their sneakers, grab their family, friends, strollers, and pets and join the fun on Saturday, July 18 at 9 AM in Downtown Highwood. The course starts and finishes at the corner of Sheridan Rd &amp; Clay Ave. and will guide participants along the beautiful lake front trail and through historic Fort Sheridan and then back again. This year’s run embraces a special "Superhero" theme, encouraging participants to come dressed as their favorite superhero. “Celebrate Highwood is thrilled to partner with Oak Terrace and align with their ‘Be a Superhero in Your Community’ theme,” says Celebrate Highwood president, Jess Ortega. “Oak Terrace’s platform on community mindedness goes hand in hand with our mission with Celebrate Highwood!”
Proceeds from the 2026 Celebrate Highwood 5K will directly benefit the Oak Terrace PTO, a non-profit organization committed to developing closer connections between home and school.
Runners and walkers can sign up <a href="https://www.CelebrateHighwood.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">HERE</a>&nbsp;or at www.CelebrateHighwood.org now through midnight on Saturday, July 18. The 5K Run, Walk &amp; Stroll registration fee is $45 per participant, and includes a run t-shirt (must be registered by Monday, July 6 to guarantee a shirt and size). The one-mile walk fee is $25 and does not include a t-shirt. For over 35 years, the North Shore School of Dance (NSSD) has been a leader in dance education and professional training. Our dedicated faculty provides high-quality instruction in a nurturing, disciplined, and inspiring environment.
