For the first time ever, Focus on the Arts, a not-for-profit arts and education organization producing a biennial, world-class arts festival held at Highland Park High School, will host ‘Come Back Into Focus’, a fundraising event to support programs for its 30th biennial Focus on the Arts 2027. This engaging, new event will be held on April 30, 2026, from 6 – 9 PM, at 28 Mile Distilling Company in Highwood, IL, honoring the volunteers who have made Focus on the Arts a reality these past 60 years. Attendees will enjoy wine, cocktails and light bites, a silent auction featuring art from local artists, music, and other live performances.

The event features a high‑energy Dance Sculpt class, live DJ, mini wellness services, and a curated market of women‑owned businesses.
The day begins at 9:15 AM with a Dance Sculpt “Sculpt” class led by Jenny Muslin of Dance Sculpt HP, offering a rhythmic, total‑body workout set to live music. It’s hard to find a director that hasn’t been influenced by John Ford, whose classics like Stagecoach (1939) and The Searchers (1956) helped define the look and feel of American cinema. Across the globe, Akira Kurosawa was creating equally important and influential works such as Rashomom (1950) and Seven Samurai (1954)—films that continue to inspire directors today.
Held at the newly renovated Glen Rowan House, this five-week course will explore the art of filmmaking through selected works by these two titans of the film medium, and discover how movies communicate emotion, ideas, and meaning through images—and why their films still matter today. The opening and closing sessions will begin with a social reception featuring food and refreshments.
Both the educational content and social receptions will offer opportunities to build community, engage with College leadership, and learn more about ongoing campus initiatives.
