CARE Plans to Endorse Candidates in District 112 School Board Race

Group invites candidates to answer questions on BDR3, Reconfiguration 2.0 and the district's Dual Language program.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - The Citizens Actively Renewing Education group plans to make an endorsement of candidates in the 2017 North Shore School District 112 board of education election on Sunday, Dec. 11.

Candidates seeking the endorsement of CARE should respond to the set of questions below for consideration by a community panel, which will be comprised of community members "drawn broadly from District 112," according to a news release from CARE.

On Dec. 11, CARE will publish the responses to the questionnaire and will name all panel participants.

CARE "understands the enormous impact that Board members have on our community, and we know that the most-effective leaders are those who lead by example, who help build consensus, and who base their decision on real data and meaningful community input," according to the release.

The responses should be sent to care112hp@gmail.com by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8.

2. Should BDR3 be delayed completely? In part? Why or why not? Do you think the Reconfiguration 2.0 Committee should be allowed to complete and present its work before D112 implements BDR3 or any similar plan?

3. Would you work to rescind, modify, or delay BDR3 if elected? Would you commit to such a vote as part of your campaign?

4. Would it be too disruptive to rescind BDR3 once termination notices are sent out? Please describe your reasoning on how teacher rehiring will work.
