CarFit Inspection Event Helps North Shore Seniors Drive Safe
20-minute complementary in-car ergonomic assessments for mature drivers Tuesday, June 13th from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at The Lodge of Northbrook
NORTHBROOK, IL (JUNE 13, 2017) – Freedom Home Care, one of Chicagoland’s leading and most respected home care agencies, and Seniors at Home, are co-hosting hosting a special CarFit event at The Lodge of Northbrook (2220 Founders Drive) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13 to help North Shore Seniors fit their vehicle properly and increase their safety and mobility when they hit the road.
A team of trained technicians from AAA, American Occupational Therapy Association and AARP will be conducting complimentary 20-minute 12-point inspections checking each individual for adequate space from the steering wheel, proper seat belt use, with seat height, head rests, mirrors, and ease getting in and out of car. Seniors will also receive information how to lower their monthly car insurance.
The focus is to help North Shore seniors discover their perfect fit and be safer as they drive, not assess driving skills. According to CarFit, older drivers are often the safest drivers in that they are more likely to wear their seatbelts, and less likely to speed or drink and drive. However, older drivers are more likely to be killed or seriously injured when a crash does occur due to the greater fragility of their aging bodies. Older drivers can greatly improve their safety by ensuring their cars are properly adjusted for them.
