Chalk Artists, Nature Cat, and More Friends Coming to Highland Park to Draw Together

Draw Together is back for another year, and this time it's bigger and better than ever.

(Something of a Dandy)

The Art Center Highland Park (TAC) continues its commitment to arts programming and education with a local favorite: Draw Together. Since 2021, TAC has invited community members to participate in its annual sidewalk art event. Draw Together celebrates creative expression and raises funds to support the Center’s scholarships and educational programming with family-friendly entertainment and an opportunity to mix and mingle with the community.

Art activities at the event will be led by Chicago Chalk Artist Rebecca LaFlure, with live entertainment throughout the day including Bach to Rock Musicians, a Musical Petting Zoo, and the ‘Tinfish’ Band from Old Town School of Folk Music.

Robert the Juggling Stilt Walker

Participants will get to enjoy an Interactive Spin Art Pedal Bike and a visit from a Juggling Stilt Walker. WTTW Kids’ Nature Cat will be in attendance, and attendees can face paint and create glitter tattoos. More activities include Puppy Adoptions from One Tail at a Time, a Contest for Most Creative Sidewalk Square, and a chance to “Chalk the Cow.”

WTTW Kids' Nature Cat

TAC is a community-based organization whose goal is to ensure access to the arts for all ages and cultural interests through classes, monthly exhibitions, and special educational offerings all year long. More than just a fun community event, Draw Together helps procure sponsorships to TAC’s scholarship fund. The Center never turns away a student in need of financial aid, awarding 100 scholarships per year to local students, adults, and senior citizens to extend the benefits of the arts to the surrounding communities. The Art Center is still accepting Community Sponsorship to fund 10 chalk boxes to be donated to a community organization of your choice. Complete a sponsorship here.

Draw Together is on Saturday, August 15, from 10 am - 1 pm CDT.
