City To Retain Path Surface on Green Bay Trail

Public input indicated desire for drainage improvements, which will begin this year.

The city of Highland Park will retain the crushed compact stone path and improve drainage on the Robert McClory Bike Path, also known as the Green Bay Trail.

The Council’s June 22 decision came a week after a public meeting and open house in which more than 200 residents expressed their preference that the path be retained with compact crushed stone, according to a city news release. The drainage improvement project will span multiple years and will begin this year as part of the City’s Capital Improvement Plan.

The path extends from Mulberry to Lake Cook Road and comprises both paved and unpaved surfaces. The paved portions consist of concrete and asphalt and are primarily through train station lots and roadways, while the unpaved portions consist of crushed stone.
