Daytime Burglary At Home; Evening Trespassing At School: Blotter
Van stolen during early-morning loading; package pilfered from vestibule; saw taken from construction site: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
SCHOOL BREAK-IN
Sometime between 7:30 and 7:50 p.m. on July 3, three people broke into Edgewood Middle School at 929 Edgewood Road and walked around inside. There was no damage reported inside, but the custodial staffer who discovered the breach found a broken window and several garbage cans that had been rolled over to a rear entrance. Police reported one of the trio of trespassers had managed to climb up to the roof and jump down into the courtyard.
STOLEN VAN
Around 3 a.m on July 7, a worker packing a white GMC van with deliveries in the rear parking lot of a business in the 1800 block of First Street briefly left the keys inside while going back inside the store. When they returned outside, the van was gone.

PACKAGE THEFT
Someone stole a package of shoes that had been delivered to the vestibule of a building in the 600 block of Central Avenue around 11:30 a.m on July 6. It was reported missing the next day.
LOCKER THEFT
A patron of a gym in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road reported someone stole a wallet from inside a gym bag at some point on July 7. The wallet was found in the gym's locker room with the cash removed from inside.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
Someone drew a pitchfork onto the "No Trucks" sign at the southeast entrance to the parking lot of the Target store at 2099 Skokie Valley Road at some point prior to July 9.
THEFT
Someone stole a 14-inch concrete saw from a construction site in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road at some point on July 2, police were told on July 10. Police reported there were no signs of damage to the locked box where the saw had been stored.
HOME BURGLARY
A burglar broke into a home in the 600 block of Crofton Avenue South between 11:45 a.m. and 2:06 p.m. on July 11. The front door was opened with brute force, and someone had rummaged through the bedroom closets. Police reported numerous pieces of jewelry and silverware were stolen.
