A Decade Later, Future Giants Program Still a Success
Twenty students at Highland Park High School serve as mentors to eighth graders.

High-achieving students of color at Highland Park High School are serving as mentors for 50 eighth-graders from Elm Place School and Northwood Junior High School in Highland Park.
The Chicago Tribune features the Future Giants program, which formed in 2004 and is run by Districts 112 and 113 in conjunction with the local business community.
“It was founded to build Latino students’ leadership skills and provide them with tutoring and mentorship,” the story reads.

In the program, the eighth graders meet teachers and learn about classes they can take in high school as well as sports, clubs and organizations they can join.
