Drunken Driver Flags Down Police Officers After Crashing: Blotter
Road rage incident leads to damaged car; man banging on neighbors' doors arrested: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
BIKE THEFT
Someone stole a locked bicycle from Ravinia Festival, 201 St. Johns Ave., between 8 p.m. Aug. 14 and 10 a.m. Aug. 15. The bike was described as a EVRY Journey with a matte black colorway of unknown value.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
Following a road rage incident involving a silver, midsize SUV, someone broke off a windshield wiper from a parked silver Volkswagen Jetta in the parking lot in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road.

SHOPLIFTING
Police were called to the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, on Aug. 17 for a report of a retail theft that had occurred between about 6 and 6:30 p.m. where an unidentified heavyset female shoplifter with red hair wearing pin aviator sunglasses, a camouflaged tank top, black shorts and white sneakers stole about $181 worth of liquor and home items. She left in a silver SUV, possible a Jeep, and headed north on Skokie Valley Road.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
Someone used white spray paint to write lords on the south side of the bridge wall near Glencoe Avenue and Mulberry Place at some point prior to 10 a.m. Aug. 19.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE
A thief stole the catalytic converter from a tan 2015 Honda CRV at some point between Aug. 16 and Aug. 19 while it was parked in the lot of the Americana Apartments, 1655 Lake Cook Road, causing about $2,000 in damage.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Jay R. Schloemer, 52, of the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park, was arrested around 9 p.m. on Aug. 16 and charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to the block where he lives for a report that he was banging on doors of other homes.
Kristine M. Graham, 38, of the 2200 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park, was arrested around 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 18 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery after police were called to a report of a fight at her home.
A 21-year-old Deerfield man was arrested around 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 19 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license after officers responding to a complaint about a driver pulled him over in the 200 block of Bloom Street.
David A. Hernandez, 23, of the 300 block of Ashland Avenue, Highwood, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 20 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after police got a report of a car that had struck a guardrail at the intersection of Highwood and Western avenues. They found Hernandez at his home and also ticketed him for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and disobeying a stop sign.
Joshua G. Perez, 28, was arrested around 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 21 after he flagged officers down in the area of the 300 block of North Deere Park Drive, where he had accidentally driven off the road and into some trees. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
A 19-year-old Sheboygan, Wisconsin man was arrested around 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 23 and charged with speeding 35 mph or more above the limit following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road.
