DUI Driver Was Speeding At Least 40 MPH Over Limit: HP Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Highland Park police blotters from Sept. 24 - Sept. 30.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 400 block of Green Bay Road reported at 12:05 p.m. on Sept. 24 that a security system alerted him to the presence of someone on his property without permission. The unidentified person unsuccessfully tried to open the door of a parked car.

STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a parked car sometime prior to 2:10 p.m. on Sept. 24 in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road.

THEFT
Someone stole two wet-dry vacuums that had been left unsecured behind a building in the 0-100 block of Skokie Valley Road sometime prior to 12:50 p.m. on Sept. 24.

ARRESTS

Katherine Hunt, 24, of the 3000 block of North Central Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 4:40 a.m. on Sept. 24 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road. She was also issued citations for for improper lane usage and speeding – 40 mph or more over the limit.

Debra Barrera, 35, of the 13000 block of Bucksburn Lane in Beach Park, was arrested at 2:20 a.m. on Sept. 29 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop near the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Parkside Drive. She was also issued citations for improper lane usage and speeding 35 mph or more above the limit.

Miguel Nieves, 35, of the 2700 block of Jacquelyn Lane in Waukegan, was arrested at 4:07 a.m. on Sept. 29 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was also ticketed for speeding 35 mph or more above the speed limit.

Dimas Coronel, 34, of the 900 block of Central Avenue in Highland Park, was arrested at 11:06 a.m. on Sept. 29 in the 400 block of Central Avenue and charged with battery after police were dispatched to a dispute.

Uriah Jenks, 38, of the 500 block of East Burnett Road in Island Lake, was arrested at 8:13 p.m. on Sept. 30 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Half Day Road. He was also issued a citation for running a stoplight.
