Fire Extinguisher Vandal; Battery Arrests; Vacuum Theft: Blotters
Incidents and arrests from the Highland Park and Highwood police blotters for Sept. 17 - Sept. 23.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
STOLEN CAR
A patron of a business in the 1500 block of Deerfield Road reported at 11:20 a.m. on Sept. 17 that someone had stolen a car from the Garrity Square parking lot. The car contained four handbags, a wallet and about $40 in cash. Police did not specify if the car was locked.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
The owner of a commercial building in the 1600 block of Old Deerfield Road reported at 1:52 p.m. on Sept. 17 that one or more vandals had destroyed plants and sprayed a fire extinguisher inside an elevator, causing a total of about $200 in damage.

THEFT
A resident in the 2700 block of Roslyn Lane reported on the afternoon of Sept. 20 that someone had stolen more than $700 worth of items from an estate sale on Sept. 1 at the same location.
BIKE THEFT
Someone stole an unlocked $200 mountain bike from a bike rack at Highland Park High School sometime prior to 8 a.m. on Sept. 21.

RETAIL THEFT
A staffer at the Target at 2099 Skokie Valley Road reported at 3:19 p.m. on Sept. 21 that someone had stolen three vacuums worth about $1,900.
ARRESTS
HIGHLAND PARK
Matthew Williamson, 58, of the 400 block of Clavey Lane in Highland Park, was arrested shortly after 10 p.m. on Sept. 23 at his home. He was charged with two counts of domestic battery after police were called to a report of a domestic dispute on his block.

HIGHWOOD
Percy Jackson, 38, of the 600 block of Sheridan in Highwood, was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic battery after reportedly slamming a woman against the wall and choking her shortly after 8 p.m. on Sept. 11.
