Orchard Village 5K/3K Run/Walk: “Race to Embrace”

SKOKIE, IL 5/6/13 – Orchard Village, the Skokie-based agency that for more than 40 years has partnered with surrounding communities to embrace the goals and aspirations of persons with developmental disabilities, has announced its first-ever Run/Walk charity event, the “Race to Embrace,”  set for Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Harms Woods. 


All net proceeds from the “Race to Embrace” will support the residential, vocational, academic and in-home services provided to Orchard Village’s customers. Registration fee for both the Run and the Walk is $30 for adults and $20 for students. Kids five and under may participate free of charge. Individuals may also “embrace” (i.e., sponsor) a team of four participating Orchard Village customers for $100. Corporate/business event sponsorships are available starting at $250.


The “Race to Embrace” will take place in Groves 1 and 2 at Harms Woods (Golf Road at Harms Road, Skokie), with the USATF (U.S.A. Track and Field)-certified 5K Run starting at 9am and the 3K Walk starting at 10am. Registration and check-in begins at 8am and a light lunch will be provided afterwards.
