Highland Park Police Blotter: May 7 - May 13

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations by the state. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

THEFT
A patron of a business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road reported shortly after 4 p.m. on May 7 that someone had stolen his wallet from a fitness locker.

THEFT
An employee of a business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road reported at 4:34 p.m. on May 7 that someone stole several items worth more than $100.

THEFT
An employee of a business in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road reported at 5:20 p.m. on May 10 that three unidentified people stole her person cell phone.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 40-year-old Gurnee man was arrested at 9:32 a.m. on May 7 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Skokie Valley Road.

Marcel Williams, 22, of the 2800 block of Ridge Road in Lansing was arrested at 12:14 a.m. on May 8 on a warrant issued by the Lansing Police Department and also charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop at the intersection of Eden’s Expressway and Clavey Road. He was released to Lansing police for the outstanding warrant.

Luis Velasquez-Ramirez, Jr., 28, of the 1600 block of Sunset Road in Highland Park, was arrested at 3:02 a.m. on May 10 and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery after police were called to his home for a report of a domestic dispute.

Louis Monette, 56, of the first block of Central Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 3:29 a.m. on May 12 and charged with one count of driving under the influence and and count of driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 after police noticed him stopped on the side of the road in the 1400 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was also ticketed for illegal transportation of alcohol.

Brent White, 41, of the 2000 block of West Winnemac Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 10:51 p.m. on May 8 and charged two counts of retail theft – one of of more than $300 and one aggravated by prior convictions — after police were called to the 1600 block of Deerfield Road about a shoplifting incident.
