Fertility Bar Creation One of a Kind: Q/A with the Highland Park Woman Behind It
Jill Spatz describes Barology Fertility Bars, the first bar created to enhance fertility.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - Jill Spatz, a Highland Park resident who grew up in nearby Northbrook, has introduced a first-of-its kind method to enhance fertility.
Barology Fertility Bars provide "an easier way to take the recommended mixture of fertility vitamins and get nutrients all in one simple bar," according to a news release. The business is online-based now, but could soon see a presence in doctor offices throughout the United States.
Spatz, a registered nurse and mother of three who specializes in infertility issues and has went through infertility herself, answered some questions Patch had on what could be a breakthrough in the field.

- How did you come up with the idea for Barology Fertility Bars?
As an infertility nurse, I had many patients complaining about the daunting handout that we gave them of recommended vitamins and supplements that they needed to take. The problem was there was no direction on where to buy them, quality wasn’t known, the dosages varied and they were very expensive.
Additionally, so many people don't like taking pills period as they are huge and hard to swallow. I knew I could do it better.

- How long has it been since the bars have hit the online market and roughly how many people have tried them?
Hit in July 2016. Roughly 300 orders from 300 different people. Many are repeating the orders.
- What has been the reaction you've received for those who have tried the bars?
People love the taste and the fact they are hand-crafted formulations. They love the concept and are so grateful to have it packaged for them conveniently. It’s a better vehicle for taking all the vitamins/nutrients that are suggested when trying to conceive. We are the first and only fertility bar and people are thrilled about it.
- Have they been more popular with men or women?
Women. However, t’s also great for men to take ownership over their body and be a part of the conception process. Women have to do so much to ready our bodies. It’s nice for the man to also take a pro-active part so both the egg and sperm quality is optimum.
- How long until you expect the bars to make their way to fertility doctor offices?
Our big market is online, but we are working hard to get into fertility centers and ob/gyn offices around the country. The Woman who wrote “Infertility for Dummies” is working with them to hit up the market, fertility and ob/gyn offices. Jackie Meyers-Thompson, who wrote “Infertility for Dummies” is working with us now on a b2b level to get into the retailers and offices.
