Fiesta Ravinia Marks 10th Year In Highland Park

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Highland Park will host the 10th Fiesta Ravinia on Sunday, as Ravinia Festival marks the upcoming Mexican Independence Day with a daylong event built around music, food and family programming.

The annual celebration, on Sept. 13 this year, reflects Mexican culture in Highland Park and Highwood and is timed as a complement to celebrations taking place across Chicago.

Grammy-winning group Los Tigres del Norte will headline the evening concert at the Hunter Pavilion. The group has recorded more than 55 albums and 700 songs, sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, and earned 140 platinum records, 135 gold records and one diamond record during a 40-year career.

The park is scheduled to open at 2 p.m. Festival activities are included with admission, and the Hunter Pavilion concert is set to begin at 7 p.m. Ticketsrange from $40 to $101 with code FIESTA2026, and $15 lawn tickets are available for children ages 3 to 18.

Before the headlining concert, the Carousel Stage will feature two performances. Lake County students from the Sistema Ravinia orchestra program, part of Ravinia's Reach Teach Play initiative, are scheduled to perform at 4 p.m. Lucía, identified by the festival as Lucía Gutierrez Rebolloso, is set to open the night on the Carousel Stage at 6 p.m.

Ravinia described Lucía as a 25-year-old artist from Veracruz whose work blends jazz, Latin and pop music. She became the first Mexican artist to win the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2022 and has since performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and LA's Royce Hall.

The family event will also include performances around the park, including Ballet Folklórico, along with the return of Lucha Libre Internationale to a wrestling ring on the South Lawn. On the KidsLawn, families can take part in music and art activities, and Art by Griz is scheduled to offer face painting in the Santa Fe Tent.

Food will be part of the celebration as well. In addition to Ravinia's regular concessions, three food trucks are planned on the north side of the park: Bella's Kitchen, Café Tola and Lupita's Bakery. The trucks will serve items including authentic Mexican food, empanadas, tacos and churros with a variety of fillings and toppings.
