HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

  • Someone stole $877 worth of alcohol from the Jewel-Osco, 1600 Deerfield Road, at some point prior to 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 16.
  • Someone stole a mountain bike worth $480 from the 500 block of Hyacinth Place in the overnight hours of Dec. 17 to Dec. 18.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole an ice skating bag from inside an unlocked car parked in the 500 block of Clavey Court on the night of Dec. 19 or morning of Dec. 20.

STOLEN CAR
Someone stole an unlocked car from the 2200 block of Hybernia Drive during the night of Dec. 19 or morning of Dec. 20. Another car, also unlocked, was burglarized with nothing reported missing.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Loridiana Rivera, 28, of the 1400 block of Elizabeth Avenue, North Chicago, was issued a battery citation after striking a person in the face and pulling her hair, yanking out a small clump of hair, shortly before 11 p.m. on Dec. 13 at 210 Live, 210 Green Bay Road.

Reginald Morris, 35, of the 18000 block of Woodland Terrace Avenue, Gurnee, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 16 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs or a combination of alcohol and drugs after police pulled him over at the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue. Officers also issued him an improper lane usage citation.

Bridget O'Connor, 21, of the 1600 block of Merrill Street, Santa Cruz, California, was arrested around 8 p.m. on Dec. 19 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after officers arrived at the scene of a two-car crash in the 1300 block of Half Day Road. There were no injuries reported, and she was also issued a failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash citation.

Jose A. Garcia-Rojas, 29, of the 300 block of Temple Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested and around 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 21 and charged with forgery, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and driving without a valid license after officers carried out a facilities check in the area of the Exmoor Country Club in the 700 block of Vine Avenue. Police also issued him a citation for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.

Samuel Elliot, 24, of the 1100 block of Harlem Boulevard, Rockford, was arrested around 2:15 a.m. on Dec. 22 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop at the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue. Police also issued him citations for improper lane usage, one headlight, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.
