Former Teacher Charged With Physical Contact With Boy
Investigation began following Ethan A. McCarthy's resignation from North Shore Academy Elementary.

A former teacher at North Shore Academy Elementary in Northbrook turned himself on July 29 in connection to misdemeanor battery charges he faces regarding an incident involving a juvenile male at the school with “students who struggle with the social, emotional, and behavioral demands of school.“
Charges against Ethan A. McCarthy, 28, Highwood were brought forth late this spring - well after McCarthy had resigned from his teaching post at the elementary school and moving on to a position at a publishing firm in Westmont, according to Pioneer Press reports.
McCarthy was placed on administrative leave before resigning from the school.

“When he left the school that was the last we saw of him. About a year later the mother started expressing concern, well after the fact. (The case) was really between the mother and the police.”
Police determined the incident was one of physical contact, and did not involve any actions by the teacher that were sexual in nature.
