Get up to Speed with Teen Driving

—"The Other Rules of the Road" Free seminar for parents of teenage drivers—

Parents of teenage drivers are invited to “get up to speed” with teen driving issues at a free seminar: The Other Rules of the Road, Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 7:30- 8:30 p.m., in the Executive Conference Room at West Ridge Center, 636 Ridge Road, Highland Park, Illinois, 60035.

Illinois offers teens a driver license which has restrictions by age (a graduated license). Teens and parents need to understand these restrictions, and liability issues if a teen driver is involved in an accident or receives a moving violation.

The seminar, presented by Attorney Michel Teich of Teich Law Office will help parents understand:

  • What to do (and what not to do) when your teen is involved in an accident or receives a moving violation
  • Local curfew regulations
  • Illinois “graduated” driver license program restrictions and how it can impact driving privileges
  • Insurance coverage adjustments you may need when you have a teenage driver in the house

A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

“Teenagers have to take a class and a test to get a driving permit – but parents receive very little formal information about Illinois laws and the impact that a new driver can have on a family,” said Teich. “Parents have to research and navigate this process on their own. As the parent of a young driver, I want to share my own experience to help other parents understand the important issues we face, and information we need to share with our kids.”
