HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

POSSIBLE SHOOTING
Officers investigating illegally parked cars reported hearing what sounded like gunfire coming from a party at a home in the 1400 block of Ridge Road around 2:45 a.m. on Jan. 1. Police were unable to identify any victims or witnesses, although one man was arrested following a brief pursuit and charged with an unrelated gun offense. Read more...

STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a car from a closed garage in the 1100 block of Linden Avenue prior to 4 a.m. Jan. 4. The Chicago Police Department found the stolen car about 8 hours later. No suspects had been identified as of the time of the report.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Richard L. Spencer, 44, of the 100 block of Washington Avenue, Hampshire, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Jan. 3 and charged with one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon — loaded and immediately accessible — after police reported they found a gun while as they investigated a report of a possible burglary in the first block of MacArthur Loop. Ali Haider, 45, of the 1200 block of Dogwood Lane, Bartlett, was arrested later on the evening of Jan. 3 and charged with disorderly conduct — making a false police report — in connection with the same incident. Officers called to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the first block of MacArthur Loop found the two men were contractors who were authorized to be in the area but determined Haider had provided false information.

Sade Bailey, 32, of the 300 block of Hobart Street in Michigan City, Indiana, was arrested around 8 p.m. Jan. 5 and charged with leaving the scene of a vehicle damage crash and driving with a suspended license following an investigation into a hit-and-run traffic crash involving two cars at the intersection of Clavey and Skokie Valley roads. Police from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff pulled Bailey over, took her into custody and her turned her over to Highland Park police. She was also issued an improper lane usage citation.
