HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

THEFT OF DELIVERY
An oil painting purchased from an antiques dealer on an online marketplace for nearly $5,700 was reported stolen on July 26 after FedEx reportedly delivered it to a home in the 900 block of Augusta Way on July 11.

HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the 2000 block of St. Johns Avenue and ransacked its interior at some point between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on July 29. Nothing was reported stolen.

JEWELRY THEFT
Someone stole a 24-karot gold pocket watch — a family heirloom valued at about $5,000 — and other miscellaneous jewelry from a home in the 1700 block of Lake Cook Road at some point prior to 8:30 a.m. Aug. 2.

BIKE THEFT
Someone stole a Giant Escape 3 Disc hybrid bicycle that had been left unlocked around 2 p.m. on Aug. 3 on the northeast side of the McDonald's, 1988 First Street. Police were told the bike was worth $800.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

William L. Berger, 38, of the 1400 block of Glencoe Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 11 p.m. on July 30 and charged with one count of felony aggravated domestic battery and two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery after police were called to his home for a report of a fight.

Tyler T. Fuhrer, 23, of the 5000 block of Dell Drive, Madison, Wisconsin, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on July 31 and charged with reckless driving and possession of cannabis following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Park Avenue West. He was also issued citations for illegal squealing of tires and improper lane usage.

Charles M. Lawson, 25, of the first block of South Lake Street, Grayslake, was arrested around 9 p.m. on Aug. 3 and charged with residential burglary and theft following an encounter with Highland Park police.

Ubaldo Betancourt Gonzalez, 42, of the 300 block of Ashland Avenue, Highwood, was arrested shortly before midnight on Aug. 3 and charged with domestic battery after police were called to a report of a fight in the 1900 block of Sheridan Road.

Colette M. Abeita, 40, of the 15800 block of US Highway 63 in Hayward, Wisconsin, was arrested around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 and charged with residential burglary and criminal damage after she broke a basement window and gained entry to a home in the 1500 block of Green Bay Road.

Terrell L. Ross, 41, of the 1500 block of 61st Street in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 7 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was also issued citation for driver's signal and driving on roadways laned for traffic.

William T. Turner, 40, of the 2100 block of Dickey Avenue, North Chicago, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 8 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and driving with a suspended or revoked license following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was also issued citations for speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Kingsley Panton, 67, of the 1200 block of Vista Drive, Gurnee, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after he was accused of pointing a gun out of the window of his car during a road rage incident. Officers took him into custody around Parkside Drive and Skokie Valley Road.

Said J. Guzman Munoz, 28, of the 4800 block of North Troy Street, Chicago, was arrested around 5:15 a.m. on Aug. 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage.
