Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park Honors Their Grantees

The Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park recently hosted its annual breakfast to celebrate the work of their grantees. The event, held yearly at NorthShore University Health System in Highland Park, is an opportunity for the more than 100 guests to meet one another and network. While doing so, they explore the possibility of joining forces to enhance the services that each 501 (c) (3) provides to improve the health of the unserved and underserved in our community.

“In addition to honoring our grantees for affecting the lives of so many people in need, we also hope that this event provides a forum for organizations to begin a dialogue about working together,” stated Jim Styer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. “Sharing information is the key to creatively combining efforts that provide broader and even better services to the most vulnerable individuals in our community. The input from our Board members who help to facilitate the conversations is invaluable to this process.”

The Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park is a unique organization that does not raise funds but distributes them yearly to community based healthcare related groups. Established in 2000 to support the healthcare mission of what was then Highland Park Hospital, the Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park has granted more than $100 million dollars to over 50 organizations. The funds that are awarded by the Board of Trustees, mostly to smaller charitable groups, provide for a host services that include health screenings, mental health services, drug awareness programs, domestic violence assistance, child care, sexual abuse support, and senior services, to name a few.

The Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park is an independent organization. Grant proposals are accepted yearly and decisions regarding funding are made by the all-volunteer Board of Trustees. For more information visit http://hphealthfoundation.org.
