HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations by the state. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

RETAIL THEFT

Two people put four wireless security cameras, three doorbells with surveillance cameras, two home security systems and two wireless censorship devices into a basket and walked out of a store in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road without paying around 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 28.
STOLEN CAR

Employees at car dealership in the 400 block of Skokie Valley Road were warming up a silver Mercedes E350 in the parking lot for a customer when someone got into the passenger side of the car, hopped over to the driver's side and drove away on Nov. 29 at 5:08 p.m. The suspect was described as a black man wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and a hat who is believed to have driven to the scene in a dark blue Dodge Charger. He later returned to the scene and drove away in the charger. The stolen Mercedes, which belonged to the dealership, has not yet been recovered and the investigating officer is reviewing recordings to help identify the suspect.
CAR BURGLARY
On the morning of Dec. 1, a resident in the 700 block of Central Avenue reported that the passenger side window of a black Nissan Armada had been smashed while parked and a purse with cash inside was stolen. It was not known if the vehicle had been locked.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On the morning of Dec. 2 at someone used a key to scrape a gray Lexus while it was parked in the 2700 block of St. Johns Avenue possibly on November 26, 2017 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
ARRESTS
Pedro Guerrero, 42, of the 3800 block of West Hirsch in Chicago, was arrested Nov. 27 at 12:31 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence and no valid drivers license after police pulled him over in the 1200 block of Central Avenue. He was also issued citations for improper lane usage, uninsured motor vehicle, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and obstructing identification.
Jorge Vasquez, 33, of the 600 block of Homewood Avenue, was arrested Nov. 27 at 8:32 p.m. in the 700 block of Park Avenue West and charged with driving under the influence after police checked on a report of man passed out in a parked vehicle.
A 28-year-old Highwood man was arrested on Nov. 28 at 9:40 p.m. and charged with driving while license suspended after police pulled him over in the 600 block of Elm Place. He was also ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device.
Lucrece Anderson, 34, of the 1200 block of Sunset Drive in Round Lake Beach, was arrested Nov. 30 at 11:15 a.m. and charged with battery after police responded to a fight between two employees at an undisclosed business in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road. It was reported that a verbal argument between the two became physical, police said. The victim asked for medical treatment was taken to the hospital.
Erik Pasillas, 32, of the 5300 block of South Campbell in Chicago, was arrested Dec. 2 at 5:20 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage after police received a complaint about a driver near Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road.
Francisco Ayala, 24, of the 400 block of Oakwood Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested Dec. 3 at 3:18 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence after police pulled over a vehicle he was driving in the 2700 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was also issued tickets for speeding and improper lane usage.
