Highland Park Crime: Safe Stolen From Social Event, Goes Unnoticed For Weeks
Highland Park police reports: March 18-March 27

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of police activity. Arrests are not an indication of guilty, and criminal charges can be dropped or reduced. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
Louis M. Olswang, 18, of the 900 block of Half Day Road, Highland Park was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no driver’s license on person after police responded to a traffic accident near the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Half Day Road shortly after 10 p.m. on March 17.

DUI
Albert Rosman, 61, of the 2400 block West Good Hope Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane use after police conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Skokie Valley Road at 2 a.m. on March 19.

Ronald Alexander Cooper, 27, of the 2300 block Devonshire Road, Waukegan was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol and speeding 21 – 25 MPH over the limit after police conducted a traffic stop in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road at 2 a.m. on March 19.
Arnol D. Amigon, 23, of the 2900 block West 24th Boulevard, Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device, no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding 21 – 25 mph over the limit after police conducted a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road shortly after 2 a.m. on March 24.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
Josue Manuel Perez-Colon, 40, of the 3800 block of North Sheridan Road, Beach Park was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and improper lighting after police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Bob-O-Link Road at 7:15 p.m. on March 22.
DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED
David F. Auerbach, 58, of the 300 block of North Deere Park Drive East, Highland Park was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended after police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Elm Place and Second Street at 3:38 p.m. on March 23.
NO VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE
Polonia Bello-Pineda, 42, of the 900 block South Lincoln Avenue, Waukegan was arrested and charged with no valid driver’s license and disobeying a traffic control device after police responded to a traffic accident near the intersection of Deerfield Road and Richfield Avenue at 3:22 p.m. on March 25.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Manuel Ernesto Barrios, 19, of the 100 block South Maxon Lane, Streamwood was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and resisting arrest resulting in an injury to a peace officer after police responded to a traffic accident in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road shortly after 2 a.m. on March 26.
BURGLARY & CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On March 18th it was reported that an unknown male black subject broke into a business located in the 0-100 block of St. Johns Avenue at approximately 9:00pm on March 17th and stole USC and various merchandise. The same subject then attempted to break open a vending machine at a train station located in the 0-100 block of St. Johns Avenue at approximately 9:15pm on March 17th resulting in a broken window. The unknown subject then left the scene on a northbound train. The Police Department continues to investigate these incidents.
BATTERY
On March 18th it was reported that a female subject located at a business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road kicked another female subject at the business at approximately 10:00am on March 18th. Possible charges are pending.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On March 21st it was reported that someone broke the rear windshield of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a residence located in the 700 block of Old Trail Road between 6:30pm and 7:30pm on March 21st.
On March 22nd it was reported that someone had damaged a residential mailbox located in the 800 block of North Avenue. The incident is believed to take place during the overnight hours.
THEFT
On March 24 around 9:30 a.m., it was reported that someone stole a laptop from an individual while at a business located in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road on March 4.
On March 24th it was reported that someone stole various items from a residence located in the 1700 block of Ridgelee Road while performing commercial work during late October and early November 2016. Items were discovered missing in early January 2017.
On March 25th it was reported that someone stole multiple packages that were outside a residence located in the 600 block of Elm Place on March 14th and March 17th.
On March 25th it was reported that someone stole a safe from a residence located in the 2000 block of Burr Oaks Lane during a social gathering at the residence approximately four to five weeks prior to the reported date.
