Highland Park Has Lowest Unemployment Rate in State

Recent study by Reboot Illinois finds city's January rate to be 4.2 percent, two-tenths lower than Northbrook.

Highland Park is the city with the lowest unemployment rate in the state, according to a recent study performed by Reboot Illinois.

Looking at data from January of this year, Highland Park’s rate was at 4.2 percent - up two-tenths from the month before, but now below No. 2 Northbrook, which boasted a 4.4 rate the same month.

The unemployment rate in Highland Park has significantly dropped since January, 2014 - when it stood at 5.7 percent.

Other North Shore communities listed among the cities with the lowest rates were the aforementioned Northbrook, Wilmette and Glenview.

Also performing a study of cities with the highest rates, Reboot found that the highest is in south suburban Harvey, at 13 percent.
